چکیده

We calculate the classical gluon field of a fast projectile passing through a dense medium. We show that this allows us to calculate both the initial state gluon production in proton-nucleus collisions and the final state gluon radiation off a hard parton produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions. This unified description of these two phenomena makes the relation between the saturation scale Qs and the transport coefficient q̂ more transparent. Also, we discuss the validity of the eikonal approximation for gluon propagation inside the nucleus in proton-nucleus collisions at RHIC energy.

A unified description of initial and final state interactions in heavy ion collisions

We have investigated the gauge field of a fast moving projectile passing through a dense medium. We provide a simple and unified derivation, in light cone gauge, of the gluon production cross-section in proton-nucleus (initial state interactions), and the radiative gluon spectrum of a hard parton produced in a nucleus-nucleus collision (final state interactions). Finally, we discuss the validit...

Initial state fluctuations and final state collectivity in high energy nuclear collisions: Status and Outlook

We review recent developments in the theoretical description of the initial state and collective dynamics in heavy ion and light-heavy ion collisions. After describing the current state of the art in event by event simulations of high energy nuclear collisions we will focus on open issues. These include early time non-equilibrium dynamics, small collision systems (p+p, p+A), hydrodynamic fluctu...

Multiphase transport model for relativistic nuclear collisions

To study heavy ion collisions at energies available from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider ~RHIC!, we have developed a multiphase transport model that includes both initial partonic and final hadronic interactions. Specifically, the Zhang’s parton cascade ~ZPC! model, which uses as input the parton distribution from the heavy ion jet interaction generator ~HIJING! model, is extended to includ...

An Effective String Rope Model (ESRM) for heavy ion collisions at RHIC energies is presented. Our model takes into account baryon recoil for both target and projectile, arising from the acceleration of partons in an effective field, produced in the collision. The typical field strength (string tension) for RHIC energies is about 5−12 GeV/fm, what allows us to talk about “string ropes”. Now we d...
